Additional rationale for Eddie Campbell
[edit]Based on our fair use policy and US law, I, Hiding T , believe this image can be used in accordance with both because:
The image is partially a self-portrait of Campbell, as well as a cover to his work. It thus not only illustrates his appearance, but also his artistic style, his oeuvre and his reason for notability, that of being an artist. I do not think a similar image can be freely and easily sourced that would provide substantially the same information. The key word here is substantial. Whilst the use to illustrate his appearance may be replaced, we would still need an image to illustrate Campbell's art style and oeuvre, and it seems redundant to delete this image and later add another fair use image to the article, when using this image in four uses makes it's fair use claim stronger than other images used for only one or two purposes.
This image is from a comic strip, webcomic or from the cover or interior of a comic book. The copyright for this image is most likely owned by either the publisher of the comic or the writer(s) and/or artist(s) which produced the comic in question. It is believed that
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content and Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics/copyright for more information. | |
