Can someone put some information on Bandra's population, such as its size, religions, languages, descent (Goan, East Indian, etc.), age structure, etc.

Please also mention Almeida Park (off Prof. Almeida Road) in the heart of Bandra.

There was no mention of Bandra's rich legacy of producing field hockey talent for the India teams -including the first ever schoolboy to represent India in the World Cup (1970) - Francis D'Mello from St. Stanislaus. Prominent Bandra field hockey international players include goalkeepers Cedric Pereira (Stanislaus) and Cedric D'Souza (Sacred Heart - but a resident of Bandra); midfielders Joaquium Carvalho (St Andrews) and Viren Rasquinha (St. Stanislaus); forwards Marcellus Gomes and Francis D'Mello (both St. Stanislaus) and many others.

Can some one put some more light on history of Bandra relating to the 'Old Slaughter House', 'Railway Yard', 'Water Pipe Lines and water supply', Old Cotton Handlooms, Bandra Municipality and its Councilors etc.? As all these topics are related to the old village called 'Navpada'.

Where is the proof that Bandra has "the most churches anywhere in the world"? Please take that off or qualify the statement to say Bandra has a large number of churches for a suburb.

I am removing the following phrase - "it is a great township". This statement is arbitrary. - Siddharth Prabhu 12:14, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lists

[edit]

Hi guys, I am skeptical of including list of schools and colleges, malls, hospitals, places of worships... for that matter any kind of lists. Wiki is encyclopedia so things should be presented in details if they are worth knowing or is associated with any kind of important events in past or present. Information should not be bulleted.

Wikipedia is not a directory, and hey, Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information either.

If you all agree I would like to delete all lists from this page. spacejuncky 15:41, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was really immature of you to delete the lists. Schools and colleges, malls, hospitals, places of worships, etc. are places which define a township and information regarding them is always useful for everyone interested in knowing the town. Wikipedia grows when people work constructively, so instead of encouraging your whims and fantasies you should try and act in a positive way and refrain from deleting useful info. added by someone else [no, it wasnt me]. Tone of the article, Unverified claims

[edit]

The tone of the article is snobbish and chauvinistic. It also suggests that the western part of Bandra is superior to the eastern part.

To quote a few examples:

  1. "is a wealthy suburban area in the city of Mumbai"
  2. "[Bandra East] is completely overshadowed by its neighbouring city district."
  3. "Bandra (W), has historically grabbed most of the spotlight"
  4. "However, the eastern side soon followed its popular counterpart"

I have tried to bring some objectivity into the article. It would be great if someone could help clean it up.

Besides there are a few unverified claims.

  1. "With a large cosmopolitan population in Mumbai, the predominantly Catholic Bandra"

I doubt if the majority population is Catholic. What do the census figures say? Rohini (talk) 20:23, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is an appalling article. It is haphazard and oozes pretence and snobbishness at every line break. I have done my best to clean it up. More useful, factual information is needed here (For example, demographics), apart from bring order and objectivity to the article. Rohini (talk) 08:52, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Completely agree with you. Loads of unverifiable and in some instances unquantifiable snobbish claims.122.169.46.240 (talk) 12:26, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Section on Bandra Talao/ Bandra Lake

[edit]

I see that a separate page has been created for the Bandra Talao. How do we take content off Section 1.4.3 Bandra Lake, and link the section to the new page? Rohini (talk) 18:48, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Srikanth! Rohini (talk) 20:25, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Major overhaul required?

[edit]

This page looks like a school going child's essay. It does not provide any accurate or useful and concise info. Could we at least start with re writing the intro? [Bandra kid myself by the way, and I find this offensive :P] Neeya The Great (talk) 22:39, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Map of Bandra, Demographic info

[edit]

Do you guys agree with the inclusion of a map of Bandra with all the localities? Why is there a section on localities followed by a section on geography? Aren't they very much related? Also, is there any way to provide census information for the article by demographics? Bandra is highly cosmopolitan now and while it does have a catholic heritage, I'm quite sure Muslims have far surpassed Catholics in numbers though not by land ownership. By deanery census records there are 55000 Catholics in Bandra West and Less than 10000 in Bandra East.

Please provide citation and source for deanery records, so that facts can be used in the article.Parkwells (talk) 13:31, 22 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
