Could someone who knows either the history of this division or the geography of Luzon disambiguate the San Jose refrence in the WWII paragraph to one of the two cities by that name on the island? Thanks. Gentgeen 10:28, 10 Feb 2004 (UTC)

2d or 2nd

[edit]

I see a lot of 2d battalions here and assume that 2nd battalion is meant. If so there's an editing job to be done User:Brenont 02:31, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No. The US Army writes "second" in unit names as 2d, not as 2nd. Why? hell if I know, but 2d is correct, not 2nd.

65th Engineer Battalion

[edit]

Where are the references to 65th Engineer Battalion?

C-65th was the first unit of the division to deploy to Vietnam, earning that company, and the battalion, the official motto of "First In, Last Out!"

Additionally, it was 65th Engineer Battalion that was primarily responsible for clearing the tunnels of Cu-Chi during the Vietnam conflict.

There is also no mention of them deploying with 2-27 Wolfhounds to Southwest Asia. I find that very, very odd, because when I was a sapper with 1st platoon, C-65th, my squad provided breaching support to B-2-27. Wolfhounds never went anywhere for live-fire or force-on-force training without taking sappers...all emphasis was on MOUT, trenches, and bunkers...breach, breach, breach again. We practically lived in the SRs, the KRs, East Range, and PTA, going everywhere they did and blowing silhouettes, door-knockers, bangalores, and pop-n-drops.

There probably ought to be a mention of the combat leaders course (a policy to requirement being only half-heartedly implemented, but a good idea anyway) and the air assault school run by the Light Infantry Training Center on East Range.

I might add some of this stuff myself, but I left in 2000 and the transformation to Stryker and additiion of an airborne element since then means things have obviously changed a lot.

BTW, the LRSD element at Schofield was airborne-qualified and maintained jump status.

Trivia error

[edit]

The trivia section refers to the 'Nam comic book featuring the "23rd Infantry Brigade" as a fictional part of the 25th ID. IIRC, the unit in the comic was actually from the 23rd Infantry Regiment (4th Battalion, to be exact), but I don't have those comics anymore, can anyone verify? 64.75.222.2 (talk) 04:14, 14 April 2008 (UTC)CPT Hoolie[reply]

You are correct! Ejosse1 (talk) 10:57, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia sections are strongly discouraged by wikipedia's quality standards. See WP:TRIV. Oh, and the Oliver Stone factoid is true, but not only because of the patch..the introduction to the film opens with "Bravo company, 25th infantry, somewhere near the cambodian border." —Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnnyCalifornia (talkcontribs) 05:47, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Current Structure

[edit]

The text of Desert Storm and the Post-Cold War Era doesn't match the Current Structure. Specifically the 1st Brigade Combat Team (Stryker) which is in Alaska is not discussed, only units in Ft. Lewis, which are no longer there. I don't know the dates, or I'd fix it. RickH86 (talk) 08:07, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pig shootings

[edit]

Yes it is sourced, but it does not belong in the article. This is a encyclopedia and we are not subject to Peta campaigns ("PETA on Thursday instructed its 2 million members to inundate the Army with calls and e-mails." as CNN writes). What Peta regards as important is such a minuscule bit of info in the 67 year history of the Division and for this we leave it out! --noclador (talk) 19:54, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

@Swamilive much better this way; --noclador (talk) 20:01, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I agree it is noteworthy in the history, but it needs to be presented neutrally as a fact of what is planned to happen, but the ommision of key details and the high degree of bias are why I was reverting the change. I believe it is good the way it is now. I should have reverted it as Biased material though, I did miss the source that was added after the first reversion.Ajh16 (talk) 14:23, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Error in graphic

[edit]

2d SBCT/25th ID's AT unit is misidentified as Beta/52d IR. I believe it should be Bravo/52d IR. CsikosLo (talk) 15:19, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1989 Division Organization error

[edit]

In the 1989 OOB for the division's third Brigade, it says one of the three battalions was the 22nd Infantry. This is incorrect. Third brigade at that time consisted of the 1/27th, 4/27th, (both Wolfhounds) and the 4/87th inf (Catamounts). I know as I served in the 3rd brigade from 1987 until 1991. 141.239.141.231 (talk) 07:09, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
