I'm pretty new to wiki, but this is the worst page I've seen yet. I'm for its deletion, but I figured as such, I should try to make it better. I very arguably have strong opinions about this page, so I figured it might be better if some more experienced folks take a look at it. Predictably, it's receiving a lot of attention of anonymous editors. --Paraphelion 19:32, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- FWIW, I totally agree it should be deleted, I've always thought so. It's a well-known page, I think quite famous on WP:VFD, where voters are always suggesting that new stubs on single ethnic slurs should be deleted and their content moved to List of ethnic stereotypes. The whole idea of that page seems to me such a big mistake that I can't suggest any improvements, sorry. But I believe it's been on VfD itself, perhaps several times, and always been voted to be kept. I suppose some of the "keep" votes would have to come from a) users who don't see, even after it's been explained to them, what an invitation the page extends to just make up ethnic slurs and have the pleasure of seeing them gain some kind of "encyclopedic" status by being listed on Wikipedia; b) users who see it but don't care, or c) users who enjoy and profit from the invitation. If I remember it right, there is also a well-intentioned group d) who see having the page as a less bad option than having people create endless stubs on each separate slur that they can dream up. That is a respectable argument, just not one that makes sense to me, since those same stubs keep getting created anyway. Peer review may not be the best place for your listing—the page is hardly Featured article material! If you feel strongly about it I suggest you list it on VfD, even though I bet it'll only get you the same time-wasting runaround one more time. Bishonen | Talk 21:34, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)
