The Amorica (legend) joke added to this article and spun off as an article of its own is at Amorica (legend). Not a dull read! --Wetman 8 July 2005 09:47 (UTC)

I haven't been able to find any sources on why the Black Crowes decided to call this album "Amorica." Now if they called it "America" and put the Stars-and-Stripes bikini bottom on the cover, the theme makes sense. But "Amorica" - that's a bit of a loop. A thorough Google search shows this term always refers to this album and just about nothing else - especially nothing before this album came out. Does anybody have an answer to the origin of the name? Is it simply an amalgam of Italian "Amore" and "America"? A couple sites mention that it's an "ancient name for Britain," which if it were true, is quite ironic. Midtempo-abg (talk) 06:01, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I always assumed it was simply an amalgam of "amoral" and "America". Beve (talk) 15:25, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Could be a confusion with Armorica, which is Brittany. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 03:15, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
