In the intro, where it mentions Florida bordering Cuba, please mention that this is a maritime border. In the Geography section where it mentions that “Florida is west of the Bahamas and 90 miles (140 km) north of Cuba”, please adjust the latter part to “and its southernmost part is 90 miles (140 km) north of Cuba”. Alternative suggestion for lead

As an alternative to the requested edit above, I suggest: "Florida is separated from Cuba to the south and the Bahamas to the east by the Straits of Florida. The narrowest part of the Straits between Florida (at Key West) and Cuba is 93 miles (150 km) wide, and the narrowest part of the Straits between Florida (at Miami) and the Bahamas (at Bimini) is 50 miles (80 km) wide." As sympathetic as I am to his viewpoint, it is an opinion piece. One point that bothers me is the fuss he makes over that 101 F temperature reported from Manatee Bay in Dade County last year. Manatee Bay has so little connection to open sea water that its measured salinity ranges from 14 ppt to 45 ppt. Yes, water temperatures have been rising.
